When someone invades our space, create a barrier: either a real barrier, such as a table, or we fold our arms. It will make us feel safer and deter the other party to get closer. As a bonus we look intently the hard way and head still, Sending a distant, distant attitude. If all else fails, take the initiative and invade their space too. You'll get the other person feel very uncomfortable, Now we are closer, implying that we are not intimidated and we maintain control.
